Description
Just in time for Valentine's Day! 💘
Here's a familiar standard, "My Funny Valentine," originally written in 1937 by Rodgers & Hart for the musical Babes in Arms.
It's rare that we record arrangements written by non-Accent members, but there was a special exception in this case. Some years ago, we met and befriended Ian Freebairn-Smith, whose work over many decades speaks for itself but we encourage you to look him up! Among many other accomplishments, Ian arranged and conducted for our heroes The Hi-Lo's. When Ian unexpectedly gifted us an arrangement of "My Funny Valentine," which he wrote specifically for Accent, we felt it would be a great honor to record it. Thank you, Ian! It's beautiful!
For those wondering, Simon and James are heard but not seen here 😀
