The odds of being struck by a piece of space debris are nearly zero, but for one woman in 1954, the impossible became a painful reality.
While resting at home, Ann Hodges became the only person in recorded history to be directly hit by a meteorite. After traveling millions of miles through the cosmos, a softball-sized fragment tore through her ceiling, ending a journey that started in the asteroid belt and ended in her living room. It’s a chilling reminder that while we look at the stars, sometimes the stars look back.
