Amidst a myriad of emotions, blaming others for your own feelings (also known as "projecting") is not only common, but often helps us eventually realize that we feel out of sorts and lost in this new chapter of our lives. When you lose someone close to you, life without them feels like a completely different world. So, while everything around you is technically the same, you feel like a stranger in a world you've lived in for ages, and it feels like you have to relearn how to be okay all over again.
This was actually the first song I wrote and finished on this album, all the way back in January of 2024. Was so inspired that I thought I'd get the rest done in only a few months, lol. Little did I know I was far too enthusiastic, but I did eventually manage to package it all up near the close of 2025. The song, lyrically, is very simple, but the composition and effort that went into the instrumentation is really where it shines. Has only a few instruments, surprisingly no synths or keys, but the bass line is sick, the drums hit hard, the guitar parts are intense and somber, and there's a deep sense of emptiness all throughout the tune's entirety. I'm glad to finally send it out into the wild.
It is one of two songs I consider to be the crown jewels of the album. The other is the track that follows this one, "Mr. Afterlife", which coincidentally happens to be the very last track I wrote for the album.
Lastly, this is one of those rare occasions where I decided to include live footage in the official lyric video. Longest guitar solo yet, so I felt showing it off a bit would be fitting. Saves me from needing to do a guitar solo demo in the future, lol.
