In this video, I show you a new area on my property that I am landscaping. It is on a slope and it had been filled with scrub pines. I removed most of the pines and brought in Japanese Maples, deodora cedars, hydrangea, azalea, hostas, coral bells, lilies, daffodils, hardy geranium, sunpaiens, etc. The soil in that area was hard clay and filled with rocks. I removed as many rocks as possible and for several years I spread woodchips all over the ground. The chips decomposed and now the soil is much better. The plants appear healthy.
