Welcome to the 20th Exile Skimboards Oktoberfest!
Exile Skimboards will host the 20th annual Exile Oktoberfest at Balboa Pier in Newport Beach on Sept. 27th and 28th, bringing together an elite international field for one of the sport’s most celebrated events. Started in 2005,
the Exile Oktoberfest is the sixth and final stop of the 2025 season for the United Skim Tour, the sport’s
premier professional contest circuit. The Exile Oktoberfest remains a crown-jewel stop—known
for world-class conditions and a deep pool of talent that showcases the very best of modern
professional skimboarding.
This year’s event features standout pros from across the world. Headlining the men’s draw,
entrants include Timmy Gamboa (Laguna Beach; currently 2nd on the UST), Dane Cameron
(Laguna Beach; 3rd), João Lucas (Angra dos Reis, Brazil; 4th), and Gerardo Valencia (Barra de
Navidad, Mexico; 5th). On the women’s side, notable entrants include Julia Dias (Ubatuba,
Brazil; 2nd on the UST), Amber Torrealba (Palm Bay, Florida.; 3rd), and Ashley Poshard (Santa
Cruz; 4th).
Although the UST championships are decided—Lucas Fink clinched the men’s title after the
fourth event in Delaware, and Alex Yokley secured the women’s title after winning the fifth event
in Laguna Beach—Oktoberfest remains a treasured event on every pro’s list. Previous 2025
UST events included stops in Brazil, Mexico, North Carolina, Delaware, and Laguna Beach.
“Twenty years of Oktoberfest represents two decades of hosting this event at one of the
best shorebreak spots in California,” said Hank Snapp, contest director and general
manager of Exile Skimboards. “Orange County is an absolute hotbed of skimboarding
talent, and when we host this event, international pros come from all over to battle it out
with the locals. We’re expecting riders from Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and the east coast
to bring some heavy competition to Balboa Pier. It will be an exciting weekend for
participants and spectators alike.”
Competition will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and run until about 7 p.m. each
day. Beyond the professional divisions, amateurs can compete in age-specific divisions.
Also, the semi-professional division is open, allowing top amateurs to compete across age
groups.
