I am so proud of where The $1000 Project Share Portfolio stands today...more than $374,000, paying me a growing passive income via dividends.
Now, I am realising how this can benefit my girls, in helping pay for their secondary school fees, without ever having to sell the portfolio. This will help take the financial pressure of Tom's and my shoulders, but also help us reach our own financial freedom, with our goal to build a passive income of over $200,000 p.a.
My advice to you? Simply get started! Start with a figure that feels achievable and work as hard as you can to save that amount. The moment you have it ready, invest it before temptation kicks in. Do your research around LICs and ETFs if you want a diversified share portfolio for long term growth and income opportunities. But also, when it doubt, seek professional advice.
A few other tricks that helped me hit six figures:
1. I reinvest every dividend back into the portfolio
2. I constantly work on saving up my next $1,000 and invest it immediately.
3. I buy and hold - never selling down so I don't need to worry about CGT.
4. Not advice - but I love Australian industrial shares that pay fully franked dividends.
5. Whilst my Margin Loan is paid off, I used a very conservative gearing strategy to help buy more passive income streams.
You can use the $1000 Project to:
1. Invest for financial freedom
2. Save up for a big financial decision - like buying a home
3. Contribute towards your retirement goals
4. Get out of debt - credit cards, BNPL, personal loans and mortgages
5. Build your emergency money
