The mirror does not translate truth correctly.
We were given this blessing by Mirza Ghalib:
“May you live for a thousand years,”
Yet even a year passes in just a few days.
Mir Taqi Mir too had seen lips like yours —
Like a delicate rose petal.
Had he heard your words, he would have become Ghalib.
Scattered day and night like this…
As if a pearl necklace has broken apart.
You had strung me together,
You had kept me threaded (held together).
