Round or square, big or small, deep or shallow? There's a huge variety of choice when it comes to choosing and using your first softbox. Of course there is no single softbox that will work for everyone all the time. But if you're looking for some general advice on an all purpose light modifier that usually gets the job done well (most of the time) the this live session is for you!
So what is my recommendation for your first softbox? Spoiler Alert...
The humble 2'x3' (60cmx90cm) rectangular softbox is the perfect starting point. They're easy to find, often relatively cheap and super versatile. I'll show you how to set one up, what the layers of diffusion do and why you need a grid.
