Description
World Environment Day is the United Nations' principal day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the environment. It is celebrated every year on 5 June and is led by the United Nations Environment Programme.
Established in 1972 following the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, World Environment Day has grown into one of the largest global platforms for environmental outreach, engaging governments, businesses, communities, schools and individuals in actions to protect the planet.
