Windows Using Laptop Mic Instead of External Mic (DJI) Fix!
If Windows 11 or Windows 10 is defaulting to your laptop's internal microphone instead of your connected DJI Mic (DJI Mic, Mic 2, or Mic Mini receiver), follow these steps to force Windows to use your DJI wireless audio setup:
1. Re-seat USB-C/3.5mm Connection: Unplug your DJI Mic receiver from your laptop's USB-C or 3.5mm audio port and plug it back in firmly to ensure the driver handshake completes.
2. Open Windows Sound Control Panel: Press Windows + R on your keyboard, type "mmsys.cpl", and press Enter to launch the Sound Control Panel directly.
3. Access the Recording Tab: Click on the "Recording" tab at the top of the window to list all active audio input devices.
4. Set DJI Mic as Default Device: Locate "Wireless Microphone RX" or "USB Audio Device" (your DJI Mic), right-click it, and select "Set as Default Device" and "Set as Default Communication Device".
5. Disable Internal Laptop Microphone: Right-click your laptop's built-in "Microphone Array" or "Realtek High Definition Audio" in the same list and select "Disable" to prevent Windows from switching back automatically.
6. Enable Privacy Permissions: Go to Windows Settings ➔ Privacy & security ➔ Microphone, and make sure both "Microphone access" and "Let desktop apps access your microphone" are toggled ON.
