NEW UK PRIME MINISTER
The UK has welcomed its 7th Prime Minister in 10 years. So who is he and what does this mean for Australia? 10 Downing Street, the house with the famous black door, and a cat called Larry, has welcomed its latest prime minister. Meet Andy Burnham, former Mayor of Greater Manchester. Now, the UK's 7th Prime Minister in 10 years, yeah they've been going through them quite a bit lately. The last one was Keir Starmer. He decided to step down because his popularity was dropping, even within his own political party. The party then voted on someone to replace him, and that was Andy Burnham. Mr Burnham has made some big promises, like pledging to provide cost-of-living relief for Brits, and continuing to honour its defence commitments to its allies, like the AUKUS submarine deal Australia is a part of. US president Donald Trump and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese say they're looking forward to working with the new PM. But back on home soil, there have been some mixed feelings about it all.
WARNER MERGER PAUSE
The merger between movie studios Warner Bros. and Paramount has been paused, for now. Earlier this year, Paramount inked a $155 billion dollar deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, which would see the two studios combine into one massive company. But not everyone's a fan of that idea, including a dozen states led by California that recently filed lawsuits to try and stop the deal because they're worried the merger will lead to job losses, and hurt competition in Hollywood, leaving fewer choices for movie goers and cable TV customers. Now, a federal judge has ordered the merger to pause for at least two weeks to give the states time to see through their court cases.

Now we're going to Bernie in Tasmania to meet a winner of the ABC's Takeover competition. It asks kids in regional areas across the country to share stories about things that are important to them. Here's Kallie to tell us about her passion for wood chopping.

First up, to New York where Navy Veteran Spurgeon Butch Carlson celebrated his 105th birthday, by jumping out of a plane. Its been on his bucket list for a while now, and finally got to tick it off in front of friends and family.

Now, to a mysterious creature in the US State of Seattle. This is Jimothy the Racoon, and its unusual appearance is thought to be because of a rare birth defect called short spine syndrome. It's garnered quite the following online, with locals around Seattle filming and posting videos whenever Jimothy is spotted in the wild.

And finally to this moment. One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce caught everyone off guard when he snapped at his dog in the middle of an interview on the 7:30 Report last night.
