As Whisper hid away in pain, his terrible wound on his inner thigh wasn't visible to his neighbors at first. But when they got up close and saw it, they understood why this young dog wasn't moving. Every breath he took would have increased his agony. These wonderful neighbors acted immediately, gently lifted him into a rickshaw and brought him to our hospital in order to save his life. He needed surgery, and his pre-surgical care that started with pain medicine, wound cleaning and bandaging.
We had to wait a few hours to ensure that Whisper's stomach was empty before anaesthesia could be safely given. We then closed the wound using the remaining skin he could pull together. A lot of Whisper's tissue had been damaged or was completely severed. But at every stage of his rescue,
Whisper's eyes told the story of intelligence, fear, confusion, and gentle kindness. By the time his healing was underway, they also expressed pure love.
