DAIR (debridement, antibiotics and implant replacement) is often the best approach for treating periprosthetic joint infections, or PJIs, but it's not an option if the infection isn't caught early enough. Douglas Chonko, DO, an orthopedic surgeon at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, explains what treatment options are available when you have a PJI but aren't a candidate for a DAIR procedure.
