Description
If you're outside during a tornado and there’s no sturdy building nearby, quickly find a low spot, like a ditch or culvert, and take cover. Get as low as possible, lie flat, and cover your head and neck with your arms or anything you have to protect yourself from flying debris.
Do not take shelter under overpasses or bridges — they can increase wind speed and danger. The safest thing to do outside is to get below ground level and stay there until the threat passes.
