What is the difference between the English words 'horrific' and 'horrendous'? Here are two words that we often use in English to describe a situation or event that has been witnessed which leaves the observer feeling upset and distressed. The words are ‘horrific’ and ‘horrendous’. First of all the word ‘horrific’ is an adjective that means to cause horror or create the feeling of horror. That is to say a thing observed or witnessed that creates the feeling of horror is horrific.
