AI REACTIONS
Yesterday, the government announced a world-first plan to regulate AI in Australia, but some people still aren't sure about it. What does AI stand for? It stands for Australia's Interest. Or at least that's what the Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said when he announced a plan to regulate the AI industry here in the future. As part of its plan, the government focused on data centres and the environmental impact they can have, but some reckon the focus on these centres could reduce new housing being built and drive up water and power prices, even though they'll bring in lots of money to the economy. While some Aussie artists have confidence, copyright rules for AI content were a big concern that the new plan seems to be dealing with. Some reckon that the plan doesn't go far enough, and we won't know the full details until it's legislated early next year. But many are still hopeful.
ARGENTINA WORLD CUP
England has suffered a crushing loss to reigning champs Argentina at the World Cup semifinals. It was a tense first half, with things looking promising for England after this goal, but Argentina fought back late, scoring twice in the closing minutes to seal a 2-1 victory. It was a huge moment for Argentina's fans around the world, with the team now through to the final, where it will face Spain.
BARBER TEENAGER
Now we're going to meet 18-year-old Hugo. He's a barber from Adelaide, who has been giving out free haircuts.
FERRIS WHEEL CHALLENGE
First up, to an obstacle course, unlike one you've ever seen before. Danish athlete Ida Mathilde Steensgaard has just completed the first-ever rotating obstacle course built inside a ferris wheel. It's quite the optical illusion, isn't it? The wheel spinning around kind of makes it look like she's getting nowhere. But she did! Completing the spin in 3 minutes and 33 seconds.
BUZZ ALDRIN PEN
Now to a pen, which has just sold at auction for 1.2 million Australian dollars. And it even has a dent in it! It belonged to astronaut Buzz Aldrin, one of the first men to land on the moon back in 1969. And it was used to save their lives! You see, an important switch to arm the rocket engines for their return trip home had snapped off, after Buzz allegedly, accidentally, bumped into it. But luckily, he checked in his pocket and found this pen, which just so happened to fit perfectly to flip the switch. Phew.
