Watch how the Volvo L120 Electric wheel loader is helping PermaPine, New Zealand's largest manufacturer of timber posts and poles, test the limits of sustainable equipment in a true 24/7 industrial environment.
Operating on a 100-acre site near Taupō, PermaPine put the L120 Electric through its paces across multiple areas: the log yard, treatment plant, and general site operations. The results? Effortless mobility, strong lifting capability, excellent cab visibility, and positive operator feedback across the board.
This trial marks the first fully electric wheel loader in New Zealand fitted with log forks and operating in a continuous production environment. Charging infrastructure was installed with support from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), and the machine was leased through local Volvo CE dealer, @TDXLtd.
PermaPine already runs a fleet of 20 Volvo wheel loaders and three Volvo excavators — the L120 Electric is the next step in their ongoing sustainability journey.
