Village Life in Sierra Leone (09)

Description

Ghiuba is a traditional rural village in the interior of Sierra Leone. It lies on the banks of the Moa River and close to Tiwai Island. Ghiuba is situated on the edge of one of the last large tracts of pristine rainforest in West Africa. The inhabitants make their living mainly from rice farming, cassava, fishing and small-scale trade. Some residents also earn an income as guides, boatmen, cooks or staff at the visitor facilities on Tiwai Island.

We visited Sierra Leone on our overland trip by car (a Toyota LandCruiser 4WD campervan) from West-Africa; see our channel https://www.youtube.com/user/JanvanBekkum for hundreds of clips.
