The United States and Tehran continued to exchange drone and missile strikes. The U.S. military's Central Command (CENTCOM) on Friday released a video that it said showed strikes on a maritime surveillance tower at Iran's Kalatari Port along the Gulf of Oman coastline.
CENTCOM said the tower had been used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to track and target commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, adding that its destruction would help protect freedom of navigation in the strategic waterway.
The collapse of a ceasefire and resumption of strikes by the U.S. and Iran has again interrupted tanker traffic in the Strait, cutting off the delivery of energy supplies from the Persian Gulf.
