A historic milestone! 🚀The Orion spacecraft is on its way to the Moon. Here are the key facts you need to know about the Artemis II mission:
* First in 50+ Years: The first crewed mission to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972.
* Breaking Barriers: 🧑🏼🚀Christina Koch is the first woman to fly to the Moon, joined by Victor Glover (the first person of color) 👨🏿🚀 and Jeremy Hansen (the first Canadian) 🇨🇦
* The Timeline: A 10-day journey. It takes about 4 days to get there and 4 days to return. Splashdown in the Pacific is expected on April 10, 2026.
* The Views: We expect the first close-up photos of the lunar far side around Day 6 of the mission during the flyby.
* Why Artemis? In Greek mythology, Artemis is the goddess of the Moon and the twin sister of Apollo. It’s the perfect name for the program bringing us back.
