Daycare is costing her more money than she’s making at her part-time job.
So technically… she’s losing money.
But after talking to her, I realized the job was never really about the paycheck.
I met a mom at the YMCA who has 5 kids and is a stay-at-home mom, and she shared how much she had been struggling mentally with the isolation.
She said she got a part-time job because she needed adult conversations.
A break from the constant mental load.
Time around other people.
A small piece of herself back.
And honestly… it broke my heart a little.
Because I think so many moms are silently struggling in ways people don’t see.
We talk so much about finances, productivity, and managing a household… but not enough about how isolating motherhood can feel sometimes.
That conversation really challenged me to ask myself:
How can I be more of a village to the moms around me?
Not just saying “let me know if you need anything” but actually showing up.
Watching someone’s kids for an hour.
Inviting them somewhere.
Checking in.
Helping carry the mental load a little.
Motherhood was never meant to be done completely alone 🤍
