Lake Kivu is hiding a deadly secret. Deep beneath its surface, carbon dioxide and methane have been building up for hundreds of years. If they ever explode, nearly two million people living nearby could suffocate within minutes. It's happened before at Lake Nyos in 1986, killing over 1,700 people. Now authorities are trying to extract the methane to prevent disaster, but scientists warn that the extraction itself could be the trigger. This is the story of a ticking time bomb in the heart of Africa.
