Description
this is what LA without cars feels like 🛼🚴🏼♀️🏝️🩷 this is what @CicLAviaLA gives us, one of my favorite non-profits advocating for open streets, but now their funding is about to be taken away 🥺💔
right now metro LA is quietly trying to cut future funding for open street events like ciclavia, right before LA hosts the world for the LA Olympics 2028. these free car-free days are for everyone, every neighborhood, every age, every kind of wheels, and they could be gone after this year. seeing LA come to live just by closing one road to cars for a day shows how much this city needs it. no traffic, no fear, just people skating, biking, and walking down streets that are usually impossible to enjoy 🤍
here’s the part that matters: the metro board votes today at 10 am (item 13), and it passes automatically with zero discussion unless people show up and speak.
📞 call in live today at 10 am: dial 888-978-8818, code 5647249, then press 2 to comment 🗣️ tell them: pull item 13, fund open streets through 2028, and make it permanent ✨
