Radioactive Chicken Heads re-release the original âBad Bunnyâ song on a new EP in time for Super Bowl 2026
30 years ago, when the reggaeton superstar Bad Bunny, was just a one year old baby, the Chicken Heads released their third cassette tape, Divine Indigestion. One of its highlights was a Danzig-esque heavy metal song, titled âBad Bunny.âÂ
Fast forward to 2008, the Radioactive Chicken Heads re-recorded the song and released it on their best known album, Music For Mutants. At that time, 14 year old Benito Antonio MartĂnez Ocasio, was beginning to form an interest in music, but had not yet taken on the name, Bad Bunny.Â
Given the timeline, fans on Reddit have theorized that Ocasioâs stage name may have been inspired by the Radioactive Chicken Heads song.
âThe natural enemy of the carrot is the bunny,â explains the groupâs mutant vegetable frontman, Carrot Toppâhence the title of the song, âBad Bunny.â
In anticipation of Bad Bunnyâs halftime performance at Super Bowl 2026, the Radioactive Chicken Heads are releasing a remastered version of their original 2008 recording of Badd Bunny, on a 6 song EP, which will include two remixes by Kebin No Panda, and three previously unreleased live tracks from 2008. The live recordings were captured at Radio Recorders, a Los Angeles studio where Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder, the Beach Boys, and many other notable artists recorded hit songs over the years. The Radioactive Chicken Headsâ live session ended up being one of the final recordings at the legendary studio, which opened in 1928 and shut down in 2008. The EP cover features art by GWAR co-founder, Hunter Jackson.
