Description

As women fought for the right to vote, the sunflower emerged as a symbol of hope and change. More than 120 years ago, Mary Cassatt placed it at the center of her painting “Woman with a Sunflower.”

Today, photographer @carina.psd brings the work into a new light, reimagining Cassatt’s tender scene through the lens of a Black family.

“By centering a Black mother and daughter, I wanted to honor women whose contributions to that history are often overlooked while celebrating the love, guidance, and perseverance that connect mothers and daughters across time.”
