From Canon to Creation: A Celebration of Mannes Opera

Throughout its history, opera at Mannes has balanced rigorous training rooted in the classical canon with a commitment to being at the forefront of new opera creation. From the 1951 US premiere of Mannes faculty member Bohuslav Martinu's Comedy on the Brid ge to this season's workshops of operas by faculty composers Alyssa Weinberg and Kamala Sankaram - Mannes Opera is committed to preparing students for the ever - changing operatic landscape in America. This program celebrates the rich history of our school a nd looks forward to the next chapter of opera being developed at Mannes right now. Featuring alumni Nadine Sierra (BM 2010), Eve Gigliotti (MM 2009), Jennifer Zetlan (BM 2004), Bryan Wagorn (MM 2008), and Hannah Cho (MM 2022, PDPL 2024) along with current students.
