Hitler annexes Austria, purges the Jewish players from their World Cup team (the "Wunderteam"), and demands a "friendly" match to prove unification. Their best player, Matthias Sindelar AKA “the Mozart of Football” at the time scores, taunts the Nazi elites in the stands, then retires rather than play for Germany.
A year later he's found dead. Officially: carbon monoxide accident. Unofficially: he was on a Gestapo watchlist.
