This is the first legato lick I ever mastered, and it completely changed how I approached speed, accuracy, and control.
Most guitarists spend way too much time focusing on the picking hand. The secret is teaching your fretting hand to do more of the work.
Legato develops:
• Finger independence
• Timing
• Accuracy
• Finger strength
• Synchronization
• Smooth speed
• Better phrasing
• Dynamic control
It also gives your playing a completely different voice. Instead of every note being sharply picked and staccato, legato creates smooth, flowing lines where the notes naturally roll into one another, adding expression that’s difficult to get with alternate picking alone.
