The Democratic Socialists of America just unveiled a new, radical push to eliminate the Senate, and its co-Chair Gustavo Gordillo is now calling it an “undemocratic institution.”
“It gives more representation to people in smaller states,” Gordillo said, as @ Martha MacCallum pushed back, noting that the House of Representatives is population-based to ensure equal representation.
The DSA’s platform is also calling for:
— eliminating checks and balances
— granting amnesty to all immigrants
— abolishing the War Department
— passage of a Green New Deal
— establish a wealth tax
— replacing the presidency and Supreme Court with a new executive and judiciary subordinate to and chosen by Congress
— a 32-hour work week with no reduction in pay or benefits
