Description
4.9 is introducing instancing to Star Citizen, and predictably, the community is split. Some are screaming that it’s the end of the project, accusing CIG of creating a 'Galaxy of Warcraft.' But we’ve seen this movie before.
Back in 2018, when EVE Online introduced Abyssal Deadspace, the community reacted with the exact same moral panic. They claimed instancing would destroy the sandbox, kill emergent gameplay, and casualize the experience.
Today Abyssal space is a staple of the game. It added player choice, solved critical technical hurdles, and gave Eve players a way to engage with the game without spending three hours forming a fleet just to get ganked. Instancing is not the death of Star Citizen, its a normal part of the development.
