The new Sony A7R VI should have been a camera built specifically for photographers — a true successor to a lineup known for incredible resolution, dynamic range, and detail. Instead, Sony seems more focused on turning every camera into a “hybrid” machine packed with video features whether photographers asked for them or not. At 66.8 megapixels, this camera has the potential to be an absolute monster for landscape, portrait, commercial, and studio photographers, but once again Sony appears to be chasing specs that look good on paper rather than staying true to what made the A7R series special in the first place. For many photographers, this feels less like innovation and more like compromise.
