In this video, I hit the water with my co-host from SmallmouthCrush LIVE, Epic Eric, and we break down a finesse presentation that continues to put quality smallmouth in the boat when other techniques slow down.
The star of the show was the Z-Man Fuzzy NuggetZ fished on a split shot rig. Think of it as a finesse Carolina rig. This setup allowed us to make long casts, cover water efficiently, and keep the bait in front of fish for extended periods of time.
Epic Eric was making long casts and slowly dragging the Fuzzy NuggetZ through key areas, while I worked mine more like a traditional Ned rig by dragging it, dead sticking it, and lightly shaking it along the bottom. Most of our fish came from less than 10 feet of water where smallmouth were actively using isolated cover and feeding areas.
If you're looking for a simple but incredibly effective way to catch more smallmouth bass, this is a technique worth trying.
