Dal ki Dulhan/ Dal Pithi 🤌🏻☘️
Ingredients
For Dal:
• 1½ cup mixed dal (arhar )
• 3 glasses water • 1 tsp turmeric powder
• Salt to taste
For Dough (Pitha):
1 cups a i (rice flour)
• Salt to taste
• Water (for kneading)
For Masala:
• 2 tbsp mustard oil
• 1 tsp jeera
• 1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
• 1 medium onion (finelv chopped). • 1 medium tomato (finely chopped)
• 1 tbsp ginger
• 1 tsp turmeric powder
• 1 tbsp dhaniya-jeera powder
• 1 tsp red chilli powder
• Salt to taste
For Tadka (Optional):
• 1 tbsp mustard oil
• 1 tsp jeera
• 2 whole dried red chillies
• 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
• Fresh coriander leaves. Method:
Wash and soak the dal (optional, 10-15 mins). Add dal, water, turmeric, and salt to a pressure cooker. Cook on medium flame for 2-3 whistles. Keep aside.
In a bowl, add atta, turmeric, ajwain, and salt. Knead into a soft, normal dough (not too tight, not too loose).
Rest for 5-10 minutes. Make small dough balls. Roll into small rotis. Cut into small round/diamond shapes or give any design you like.
Heat mustard oil in a kadhai. Add jeera and let it crackle. Add green chillies, onion and sauté till golden.
Add tomato and ginger-garlic paste then cook till soft.
Add all dry spices andbcook till oil separates.
Add cooked dal to the masala. Bring it to a boil. Add the prepared pitha pieces. Cook on low flame for 12-15 minutes until pitha is soft and cooked. Heat mustard oil in a tadka pan. Add jeera and whole red chillies. Switch off flame, add Kashmiri red chilli powder. Pour over the dal.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with dahi, papad and chokha.#explore #explorepage #bihar #dalpitthi instagood
