As soon as I started this devotional page, the song "Shape of My Heart" by the Backstreet Boys popped into my head—now, while I sincerely doubt they were having a chat with God as meaning to these lyrics, it sparked a prayer in my heart! Reflecting on all the times I’ve tried to fit in, hide, or play a role…God has known the true shape of my heart all along and has offered a way to heal it! Every broken, crumpled piece, He has always wanted to hold it close and by the blood of Jesus transform my heart into something completely new.
In today’s art journaling session, I’m using foil, wrinkles, vellum, and hearts in every shape and size as symbols of the seasons of my life, the emotions we carry, and the grace God offers us. The process was full of reflection, gratitude, and creativity, and I want you to experience this type of creative healing too.
