Description
If you're familiar with the big hit by Simon & Garfunkel, this one will come as a pleasant surprise. The song is an old English country song, and Marianne reverts to some of the old lyrics, dated from the 1890s. However, the song is much older than that - it has been traced as far back as 1670. Some of the lines have been corrupted over time, including the famous refrain, "parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme'. It is believed the original lyrics may have been "sober and grave grow merry in time", a reference to how feelings can change.
