Saying Farewell to My 1931 Ford Model A Pickup – Part 1

Description

After several aggravating delays and a change from an enclosed car carrier to an open carrier, because of the cost, the day finally arrived to say a final goodbye to Byron Lee, my dad’s and my 1931 Ford Model a Pickup. In this Part 1 video, I make the final preparations for the journey, then upon the arrival of the truck driver, Saba, I give him a quick lesion on how to operate the Model A.

Background:
I drove this old truck a total of only 1,675 miles during 7 years of ownership! The odometer was 94,325 when I transported my Model A home from Anacortes, WA in September 2019 driving a new U-Haul rental pickup and car trailer myself. The odometer read 96,000 miles when Saba loaded it up on his car carrier later this same day, which you will see in my next video.
As I was loading a box containing one of the old spoke wheels and a plastic bin containing miscellaneous parts inside the cab of my Model A pickup before the truck driver arrived to transport my Model A on an open carrier to the new owner in New York, I noticed that the odometer was at 95,999.7 miles. I instantly decided that I wanted to be the one driving it as it turned to 96,000. Only .3 miles needed, a short drive around the block would get this done. I knew that Skye would be expecting to join me for the ride when she heard the Model A engine start, so I retrieved her dog bed, lifted Skye into the back of the truck and secured her for a short ride. Perhaps this isn’t that interesting of a video for you to watch, but it certainly means a lot to me on the last day with my Model A.
