Samsung is experiencing a rare situation where it's winning and losing at the same time. Thanks to the global AI boom, Samsung's semiconductor business is making record profits by supplying high-demand AI memory chips like HBM and DRAM. But those same soaring memory prices are hurting its smartphone business, pushing the Galaxy division toward its first-ever operating loss despite price hikes on the Galaxy S26 series. At the same time, Samsung India is restructuring its TV and home appliance business to cut costs and improve efficiency as smartphone demand slows and competition intensifies. Looking ahead, Samsung is betting big on AI PCs and robotics with its new Project Gaia AI chip, aiming to challenge Apple and Qualcomm in the next wave of AI computing.
