Description
In this video I discuss patterns which can be healthy or unhealthy.
A pattern is simply something that repeats itself. It is a recurring way of thinking, responding, behaving, or relating that becomes evident over time.
Patterns are not inherently negative. There are healthy patterns that produce stability, wisdom, discipline, and growth. There are also unhealthy patterns that perpetuate bondage, dysfunction, and destruction.
This video is specifically focused on unhealthy patterns.
One of the greatest errors some make is assuming that the pattern itself is the problem. In reality, the pattern is often the manifestation of something deeper.
It is the visible expression of an invisible reality. It is evidence that something has been planted, nurtured, or left unchallenged long enough to produce fruit (patterns).
That pattern may originate from beliefs a person has embraced about themselves.
Human beings don’t live merely according to facts. They live according to what they have come to believe.
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…" Proverbs 23:7
A person who believes they are unworthy may repeatedly sabotage healthy relationships. A person who believes they will always fail may unconsciously avoid opportunities that could lead to success.
So, the pattern is visible, but the belief beneath it is what sustains it.📌
Patterns are also shaped by ones environment.
The environments in which people are formed influence what they consider normal, acceptable, and familiar.
A child raised in chaos may become accustomed to turmoil and unconsciously recreate it in adulthood.
Someone who grows up around manipulation may struggle to recognize healthy relationships because dysfunction has been normalized.
Repeated exposure to fear, rejection, addiction, abuse, or instability can leave impressions that continue to influence a person's choices long after they have left that environment.
Words are also powerful. When they are spoken repeatedly coupled with belief in them, they have the power to shape ones identity.
Expectations imposed by parents, wounds inflicted by loved ones, betrayals that were never healed, and examples witnessed over many years can all contribute to patterns that emerge later in life.
Many people spend years fighting agasint or settling whth “behaviors” not knowing that they are responding to seeds that were planted decades earlier.
There are also patterns that involve a spiritual component, which I talk about in this video. This why discernment is absolutely necessary.
Not every pattern is confronted in the same way because not every pattern originates from the same place.
Some are rooted primarily in trauma. Some are sustained by lies and distorted beliefs. Some are reinforced by unhealthy environments and relationships. Others involve spiritual oppression that seeks to keep a person bound to cycles Christ has already given them authority to overcome.
Discernment allows a person to ask the deeper questions.
What am I truly dealing with? What gave this pattern permission to exist? What continues to feed it? Is this a wound that requires healing, a lie that requires truth, an environment that requires separation, or a spiritual battle that requires authority?
In many cases, the answer is not one thing but several things working together.
This is why freedom cannot be reduced to a single moment or a single method.
A person may need to renounce lies while renewing their mind. They may need to exercise authority in Christ while changing their habits and relationships. They may need deliverance while also embracing accountability and allowing God to heal areas of brokenness they have ignored for years.
Our authority in Christ is powerful, but authority maintaining our freedom requires participation. 📌
It requires spiritual discernment, practical obedience, and the willingness to confront both the unseen and the visible.
God does not merely expose unhealthy patterns just so they can be acknowledged. He exposes them so they can be dismantled at their source.
His desire is not simply to interrupt cycles of bondage but to uproot everything that sustains them, establish HIS truth where deception once existed, and transform lives so completely that old patterns lose their power to reappear.
