What are the chances your seaside shrimp feast is actually from the region? Texas-based SeaD Consulting recommends flipping a coin.
They visited the Outer Banks region last month, conducting DNA tests on shrimp served at 22 restaurants, with its results showing 11 of them were not selling American wild-caught shrimp. Of those 11 restaurants, SeaD Consulting reports that 10 of them were falsely advertising their shrimp as being locally-sourced.
