The Moorish empire in the Iberian Peninsula (Al-Andalus) fell due to the Christian Reconquista, a centuries-long military campaign. The collapse was primarily driven by severe internal political fragmentation, These christians were also ethnically Moors, who identified themselves by other terms.

This constant internal rivalry left the Moors politically and militarily weakened, making them vulnerable to Christian advances.
