In 2016, Professor Eddie Glaude Jr. didn't back Hillary Clinton, and some online commenters have blamed that stance, and the stances of other public intellectuals for contributing to Trump's win. On the eve of America's 250th anniversary, Glaude is reflecting on the state of the nation and says he had long admitted that overestimated white America in 2016.
He says he still stands on his demands that Democratic Party leaders engage with Black voters in deeper ways, and points to the data on Trump support from white women voters, and an enthusiasm gap from voters that stayed home, as just some of multiple factors that led to Trump's double election.
Grio Fam, what do you think of the convos around what contributed to Trump's two election wins? Catch more clips from our interview with Professor Glaude about his new book "America, U.S.A." on our YouTube channel now. #EddieGlaude #AmericaUSA #BlackPolitics #TheGrio
