In this video we finally reach one of the biggest milestones in our 2003 Lexus IS300 restoration build — the car is officially painted!
After weeks of bodywork, dent repair, sanding, and priming, we’re preparing the car for its final paint. This IS300 started as a rough project car, but after fixing the panels and spraying multiple coats of primer, it's time for wet sanding with 400-grit sandpaper before applying the final automotive paint.
This video shows the final prep process before spraying the factory blue color that will bring this car back to life.
This build will soon become a turbocharged Lexus IS300 giveaway car, and one of you will take it home.
Before we could spray the paint we had to:
• Wet sand the primer with 400 grit
• Wash the car thoroughly
• Clean the paint booth
• Mask the car for paint
• Prepare the panels for final color
The factory blue paint looks incredibly fresh out of the gun and completely transforms the car.
But this is just the beginning — once the bodywork and paint are complete, we have big plans for the turbo build and performance upgrades.
