Description
Back in April, @TheHayleyKiyokoVEVO reached out and asked if we’d contribute a song to a companion soundtrack she was putting together for her film Girls Like Girls.
We were lucky enough to see part of the film while we were working on our contribution, and it completely transported us back to being young and carrying around all those feelings we didn’t know what to do with back then. Maybe sometimes even now? All of those feelings ended up inspiring a song called “postcard,” which comes out tonight as part of the Girls Like Girls soundtrack. Our goal with “postcard” was to capture that intense pining that can happen at any age, but especially when you’re young—when every feeling feels enormous and every crush feels life-altering.
We also want to say how much we admire Hayley. She is one of the most inspiring multi-hyphenate artists working today. A musician, filmmaker, writer, actor, friend—she’s constantly creating, and pushing herself, to put meaningful art into the world.
The soundtrack is out now, and the film opens in theaters on June 19. We really hope you’ll go see it. It’s still far too rare for queer films to get theatrical releases, and even rarer for queer women to be at the center of those stories.
Support queer art. Support queer stories. Support queer artists.
And if you’ve been missing new Tegan and Sara music, “postcard” is out now. So go listen! ❤️
