Peugeot Polygon Concept l Design Stories l Episode 5

Description

What if recycling did not have to be invisible? In #PeugeotPolygonConcept, it is a design statement — visible, distinctive, and entirely true to #Peugeot's identity.

In this episode, Léa Cochet (Color & Trim Designer) and Xavier Durand (Interior Designer) take a close look at the materials and trimming philosophy behind the cabin.

The starting point was a simple ambition: redefine what traditional trimming can be. 3D printing gives shape and structure to the seat, while a material called mono foam — capable of things conventional trimming simply cannot do — adds comfort on top. The pairing of the glossy 3D-printed shell with the matte finish of the foam creates a strong, deliberate contrast. A real design challenge, as the team describe it, and one that pays off.

Then there is forged textile. It is offcuts from other Peugeot vehicles, transformed into a material that is both recycled and genuinely beautiful. Not recycling hidden away or apologised for, but recycling worn proudly as part of the car's aesthetic identity.

Both materials started as experiments in this concept car. Both are being developed for future production vehicles. That is exactly what a concept car is for.
