This week, we’re in beautiful southwest Montana, exploring wild public land, discovering epic scenery, camping among rugged rock formations, visiting a well-preserved piece of Montana history, and spending precious time with Caroline and Matt as we eagerly await the arrival of their baby.
We begin in the Revenue Flats BLM area, a rugged public-land recreation area known for primitive camping, hiking, rock hounding, mountain biking, and some of the premier rock climbing in this part of Montana. After a windy but peaceful night under the big Montana sky, we continue exploring the trails and soaking in the wide-open views.
From there, we make our way through the Madison Valley toward Ennis, Montana, right in the heart of some of the most famous trout water in the West. The Madison River is one of Montana’s iconic blue-ribbon trout streams, and it’s a pretty special place to spend an afternoon together.
Along the way, we also visit Virginia City, a historic Montana gold rush town that still feels like stepping back into the Old West. With its wooden boardwalks, old buildings, and preserved boomtown character, it’s one of those places that helps you imagine what life was like in the early days of Montana.
But through it all, the biggest thing on our minds is the baby.
We spend our days exploring, fishing, camping, and enjoying time with family while waiting on God’s perfect timing. And then, near the end of the video, the call finally comes.
Caroline goes in for a regular checkup… and they ask her to stay.
The baby is on the way.
This Montana adventure ends with the greatest reward of all — meeting our beautiful new grandbaby.
