What happens when two massive renovation projects collide at the same time?
In this episode, we return to our off-grid watermill in Portugal to reveal our custom concrete countertops, continue building our downstairs bathroom, and unexpectedly begin major structural work on our turret bathroom upstairs. What we thought would be a focused bathtub episode quickly turns into a whirlwind of decisions, problem-solving, and hands-on building as our crew arrives and momentum picks up fast.
We share the reality behind designing a curved shower wall inside a round turret (not as simple as it sounds) and why we had to pause work due to rising costs and time. Meanwhile, downstairs, our custom sink base is set and our DIY bathtub inches closer to completion—even without traditional supports.
With deadlines looming for our habitation license in Portugal, every step matters. From sealing floors for tiling to installing propane lines and planning water filtration systems, this episode captures the beautiful chaos of turning a historic ruin into a functional home.
This chapter is intense, overwhelming at times… but also incredibly rewarding. And for the first time, we can truly see it: two completely unique bathrooms, both coming to life at once.
