Description
Set up the NETGEAR Nighthawk CM3000 cable modem from unboxing to a verified connection. This guide covers the coaxial and Ethernet connections, LED startup sequence, ISP activation for Cox, Mediacom, Optimum, Sparklight, Spectrum and Xfinity, and a speed test to confirm you are getting the speeds you pay for.
The CM3000 is a DOCSIS 3.1 mid/high-split cable modem with a 2.5Gbps port, built for multi-gig cable plans and faster upload speeds. It is a modem only, so you connect it to your own router with the included Ethernet cable, or plug a computer in directly during activation. Note that the CM3000 is not compatible with Xfinity Voice plans or fiber internet.
