My First Distortion Pedal Wasn't a Pedal at all

When I was a kid bass players were not really distorting or fuzzing out their sounds yet , I mean a few of the big guys like Jack Bruce and Jack Casady were getting distorted bass from cranking their tube amps and Chris Squire was using the first Maestro Fuzz Tone ,but companies like Electro Harmonix and Roger Mayer had invented the first fuzz pedals mainly for Jimmy Hendrix and guitar Players.

So I got curios at 12 years old a plugged a guitar straight into my fathers cassette deck trying to record it and realized that the levels were too hot and this gave me a raw dry fuzzy sound that I just loved.

By the time I was 14 years old I was on Bass and tried this again and always remembered that mega cool over compressed amazing sound that inspired me to write cool riffs.

Many decades later, today I bring you that Flashback of my first experience with that Fuzzy Distortion that inspired me for how I tweak and love my distortion and fuzz pedals today.

Let me know if you guys did this as a kid ?

flash back city my friends.

On that fuzzy note I wish you a  beautiful day M
