Minister Metlege Diab led Canada’s delegation to the International Migration Review Forum 2026. The forum brought countries together from across the world to review progress and share practical solutions on migration management.
Minister Metlege Diab also committed to 5 pledges that support Canada’s focus on secure, well managed migration and economic growth:
1. the principled use of artificial intelligence in migration
2. continuing to engage whole‑of‑government and whole‑of‑society
3. innovative practices to support labour mobility initiatives globally
4. addressing migration‑related misinformation
5. strengthening migration systems through international assistance and capacity‑building partnerships
At a time when migration is often discussed in terms of pressures and challenges, it’s important that we also speak about contribution, participation and possibilities.
