The new Mercedes-Benz GLE and the new Mercedes-Benz GLS celebrated their world premiere today at their home plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Following a comprehensive redesign, both models are now more powerful, intuitive, and commanding than ever before. They embody the ""Welcome Home"" feeling typical of Mercedes-Benz through modern design, innovative technology, and exceptional comfort. The full-size GLS SUV continues its tradition as the S-Class of SUVs, while the versatile mid-size GLE SUV remains one of the brand's most successful models. The sportier GLE Coupé is characterized by its dynamic design and dynamic driving characteristics. The new Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 HYBRID models also celebrated their world premieres.
The GLE was unveiled as the five-millionth SUV to roll off the assembly line in Tuscaloosa after 30 years of continuous operation, at a ceremony that also saw the presentation of the new GLS. The event was attended by Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius and other members of the Board of Management. As the second-largest market for Mercedes-Benz, with plants assembling vehicles for both the local and global markets, the German automaker has a strong presence in the USA. With locations in 13 states and the direct and indirect safeguarding of hundreds of thousands of jobs, Mercedes-Benz continues to invest in and expand its presence in the USA.
